Well played to our Essex Men Finishing No. 2 in the country retaining their place in Group 1. A fantastic effort from all the team with many gutsy performances,
The Essex team, comprised of Tom Higgins, David Wright, Anthony Wright, Anthony Weingarten, Rob Carter, Marshall Tutu, Ed Pudney, Tom Pudney, and Alex Winder, delivered a fantastic performance. They secured victories against Kent and Lancashire but unfortunately lost to Yorkshire over the weekend in Sheffield. It was particularly impressive to see some of our younger players achieving important wins. Tom Higgins and Anthony Weingarten played a big match, winning the final rubber to secure our place in Division 1 and finish 2nd in the country.
Essex men have had a remarkably successful run in Winter Division 1, winning the event three times and finishing as runners-up four times in the past seven years. Well done, boys! I would like to express my gratitude to the selectors and helpers, namely Dave Wright, Simon Harston, Rich Wire, and Graham Ray, who have made a significant contribution behind the scenes.
